I'm writing for information, stories, pictures of Roosevelt Cash. His children never knew about his time in the Marines, so I'm trying to piece together everything i can find.

was a a Detachment 1 Sub Unit 2 Member in 1962. Our Family did know not much about his Military History because he did not talk
about it much. When he passed away in Sept 1998, our family lost this part of his life until I discovered your Web Site. WOW!!

I can't THANK YOU enough for your efforts to maintain this Web Site. I want to share it with the family, but first maybe I could have
his pictures included first. It would be nice for the whole family to see him included and accurately memorialized. Pictures Included.

Hello ~ I received your information from SSgt Rick Swan. I am looking for some Marines that served with my father MSgt. Charles H. Badger. I would love to see pictures if anyone has any and would love know a little more! I would like to put his information on the page labeled Brothers at the Gates could you please advise as to how I can do this. I can forward the information to you if I need. Thanks again for a wonderful site. Also can we become members, and do you know how I can get a copy of the medal he earned while in service? I have some of his medals and I have his dress blues, I am in the process of framing all of this but would like to know if he has anymore?

Hi,

I was looking at your webpage and came across a photo an aircraft labeled as an "L-10", at ../member_pages/member_pages/fouts/phtotgraphs/L-10%20I%20flew%20in%20in%20Phu%20Bai.jpg.

The aircraft is actually an RU-6A. What you have there is a very rare photo of an Army DF intercept aircraft. The tipoff that it's an RU-6A are the vertical antennas mounted on each wing.

The standard U-6As had been designated as L-20As (not L-10s) prior to the standardization of DOD aircraft designations in 1962/63. The L-20A then became the U-6A, and ELINT/DF versions of the U-6A were designated as RU-6As. There were very, very few of these aircraft - the codewords for these airborne DF systems were SEVEN ROSES and CEFISH PERSON. The first RU-6As arrived in RVN in March 1962 and were part of an aviation detachment within the Army's 3rd RRU.

I do not remember Lt.Col Smith's first name. I do remember that he was one of the highest ranking officers,at that time, to have not gone to college. COL. Fennel and I had a long and not so glorious relationship. I am ashamed to say that the difficulty was of my doing. Retired MGySgt 2691. No real question on membership. I never served with 1stRad. Always 2nd Rad. But I did serve at Company L, MarSptBn in Phu Bai in 1967. Anyway, someone sent me link of your site (great looking by the way), and I wanted to drop you a line to tell you how much I enjoyed looking at some of the photos of present and fallen Marines on your site. It was nice to see Marines like Ike Eisenhower, Lloyd Bean, "Pappy" Godwin and others. Garrett O'Hara was one of my "try to emulate" hero Marines and will always be fondly remembered. I noticed that you did not have a link on your site to the MCCA . I think it would be great if there was reciprocal links between the organizations so that more of us old cronies can spend our days reminiscing. Again, kudos on your site and thanks for awakening some fond memories of good times spent with fine Marines.

John Mcdonald is looking for anyone out there that knows of the treatment that Col Hyatt did to him 1973 sending his E-9 warrant back to HQMC Testing him to see if he could hold MSgt. John McDonald is writing HQMC and needs support on what happened all because he submitted and AA Form to go to Pendleton due to wife dying of cancer. 1stSgt Danielson told him the Col was extremely upset that he was trying to get out from his command. John McDonald have been fighting Gen Gray on a Bronze Star award that Lt Barney Prosser told me and HQMC he wrote 1967. Barney told John McDonald it was the Bronze Star Gen Gray took award with him when he left on emergency leave in Jan 1978 and never submitted it. Barney told John McDonald that he and 1stSgt Jennal (Correct spelling?) wrote it. Unable to get Gen Gray to answer John McDonald or find Lt Prosser and 1Sgt. Does anyone out there know of this award that could help John McDonald. John McDonald was a Platoon cmdr at many camp site including Khe Sahn, Chu Lai , dong Ha, Camp Carrol you name it. I was with the first det sub1 at Pleiku, we arrived in Viet Nam in late December where we stayed at the Saigon Hotel, then Tan Su nute air base tent city until we went to Plieku. Capt Hayatt was Co of this det and I along with 4 other marines augmented the sub unit from San Miguel. some I remember were Cimino, Dave Frank (linguist), Sct G nichols, my self Robert(Bob )Davis. I also served in the marine corps, with the 1st composite radio company, in kaneohe, during the years 1960 and 1961, We had traveled to Taiwan, and trained with the Chinese Army, and Chinese Marine Corps. My name is Tom Cunnally USMC 1953 - 1956. I attended ASA Radio School at Ft Devens MA in 1954 and was later transfered to 1st Radio Co FMF Camp Geiger NC in 1955 and then transered to the USMCR in 1956. 1st Radio had just transfered from CA when I joined them and spent two years as a 2536 high speed radio operator supporting the 2nd Mar Div in field exercises at both Camp Lejeune, NC and Vieques Puerto Rico. A few of us also supported 1st Recon who arrived from Korea in 1955 and we assisted them on several field exercises at Onslow Beach CA. Some of you old timers may remmember me or those early days for the 1st Radio Co at Camp Geiger.

I find it very interesting to read about 1st Radio from beginning to current. I was with 1st Radion Bn in Kaneohe from 1966 to 1968. Sub Unit 1 in Viet Nam 8/68 then to become 1st Radion Bn until 8/69. For such a small unit I think we did tremendous work for the benefit of not only the Marine Corps but everyone who could use the information we gathered. I am proud to have been a member. My name is Jim DeMers. I was with 1st Radio Bn in Hawaii in 1966 and left for Viet Nam in december 1966. This is the 1st time I have seen this site as I have been using another site developed by Rick Swan. I spent 60 days on the Rock Pile From January thru February of 1967. I sat main CP in Dong Ha after that and slept in the Radio Tent. I was there when they attacked Don Ha and the Radio Tent took a direct hit as I dove out the door.
