Paul  Futtrup, 65, of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away on January 30, 2009, at 733. W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL.

Born on January 17, 1944 in Summerville, NJ to Sven & Elizabeth Futtrup, Paul spent his youth in New York and his teenage years in Ormond Beach, where he was active in the lifeguard program during the 1960's.

He joined the Marine Corps in Daytona Beach. Paul was a proud Corporal with 1st Radio from 1963-1966, serving in Phu Bai, and Danang Vietnam. Not long ago, Paul wrote a note to the website, “When I think of 1st Radio, I think of people like (John Cole, Lee Tibbets, Gene Miller, Fred Krieble, Joe Cardosi, Jon Stiles and of course Bob Meixner and the GROSSER HOUSE in Waikiki, of which I was a resident and proud member.”

Paul always considered Florida his home state,  Paul left the Marine Corp in 1966 stayed in Hawaii until 1968 Left for San Francisco/finished school at U.C. Berkeley. Worked in the bay area for a number of years.  In 1975 he was transferred to Buffalo NY for 12 very cold years.

He had been back in Florida for 19 yrs and I was semi retired from the Real Estate Business after almost 40 years, and a proud Mason.

Paul’s survivors include his beloved companion of over 11 years, Elma Grant, his sisters: Christina M. (Futtrup) O'Donnell & Faith I. Futtrup, both of Chicago, IL; his brother-in-law, Paul R. O'Donnell; and numerous cousins.
