Paul
Futtrup, 65, of Daytona Beach, FL, passed
away on January 30, 2009, at 733. W. Granada Blvd.,
Ormond Beach, FL.
Born on
January 17, 1944 in Summerville, NJ to Sven & Elizabeth Futtrup, Paul spent his youth in New York and his teenage
years in Ormond Beach, where he was active in the lifeguard
program during the 1960's.
He joined
the Marine Corps in Daytona Beach. Paul was a proud Corporal
with 1st Radio from 1963-1966, serving in Phu Bai, and
Danang Vietnam. Not long ago, Paul wrote a note to the
website, “When I think of 1st Radio, I think of people like
(John Cole, Lee Tibbets, Gene Miller, Fred Krieble, Joe
Cardosi, Jon Stiles and of course Bob Meixner and the
GROSSER HOUSE in Waikiki, of which I was a resident and
proud member.”
Paul always
considered Florida his home state, Paul left the Marine
Corp in 1966 stayed in Hawaii until 1968 Left for San
Francisco/finished school at U.C. Berkeley. Worked in the
bay area for a number of years. In 1975 he was transferred
to Buffalo NY for 12 very cold years.
He had been
back in Florida for 19 yrs and I was semi retired from the
Real Estate Business after almost 40 years, and a proud
Mason.
Paul’s
survivors include his beloved companion of over 11 years,
Elma Grant, his sisters: Christina M. (Futtrup) O'Donnell &
Faith I. Futtrup, both of Chicago, IL; his brother-in-law,
Paul R. O'Donnell; and numerous cousins. |
