2015 REUNION

MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA

Since the attendance was the lowest for the reunions, it appears as we age the interest in the reunions are waning.  The reunion was brief (May 1 thru May 3, 2015) and was held as advertised at the Sun and Sand Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Our host was most cooperative providing a rather spacious conference room complete with a wet bar,

Coffee pot, refrigerator, a nice high round table with chairs and long tables for meetings. The flag was prominently displayed which Peggy and I retain and will send to Nickie as soon as we receive her mailing information.

We did have the cake cutting ceremony with Ed and Rosy having the honors.

Following the cutting and serving of the cake, pictures were taken with the flag. We also took the time to call a few of our brothers and a sister who were missing due to illness.  Bob Brewington had undergone back surgery and Bruce Gilbert had a very serious neck injury that had him laid up in a nursing home for a short period of time. Karen of course is battling cancer. Both Bob and Bruce were recovering and Karen is standing strong in her personal battle.

As always, the discussion turned to next year’s reunion. It was decided to hold next year’s reunion, maybe the last, in Las Vegas. Once a date is set, those wishing to attend will make their reservations at the hotel of their choice.  There will be no meeting room, no cake ceremony, simply a group of brothers and sisters getting together at some club or restaurant one last time as a Marine family.
